Close your eyes for just a moment and transport yourself back to when you were a Senior in high school a month before graduation. Your young, energetic, and the whole world is in front of you. You have big dreams for what the future holds and where you will go in life.
Somewhere along the way between those last days of high school and where we are now we lost that youthful vigor for life and hunger for adventure. Many of us have been so beaten down by the day-to-day obstacles of life that we quit dreaming of the possibilities. We lost sight of the life we wanted back then and settled for the life we got.
This week I had the opportunity to visit a group of high school students who are in the process of starting their own businesses. Just being around them for a little while brought back those youthful feelings and dreams I had when I was their age.
The experience reminded me to keep my dreams big, have a vision of where I want to be in the future, and to see the solutions not just the problems when life puts it's roadblocks in my path.
The name of our organization itself, Fight the Fight, implies the mission to keep fighting through all of the bad things life throws at us so we can live another day and keep pushing forward.
For most of us, everyday (and I mean EVERY SINGLE DAY) is a battle. And we get so wrapped up in our day-to-day battles that we forget about what we wanted for ourselves when we started this journey.
Let this post be a spark to rekindle those big dreams you had for yourself back when your letterman's jacket was your most prized possession.
Be realistic about where you are at now. Create a clear vision of where you want to be in the future. Commit to executing the actions it will take to get you there. And promise yourself you will never give up on or lose sight of your dreams again!
