My name is Geri Thompson. My husband and I have two daughters along with a spunky granddaughter living with us. We live in Granite City, Illinois. I am currently in a fight of my life as this is my second battle with Breast Cancer.
I was first diagnosed in April 2004 at the age of 34 with stage 2 breast cancer. It was in my left breast only. Despite doing 4 rounds of chemotherapy, a single mastectomy, 2 more rounds of chemotherapy, and 6 weeks of radiation, I was doing good. The healing process went well.
Every year my check-ups showed no evidence of disease for 11 years, then in March of 2015, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer on the Left side, near my chest wall, however it had already started to spread this time.
After several tests it was confirmed to be in the carcinoma of the bones and the pleura sac around my lungs. The doctor immediately started me on a daily dose of chemotherapy it is a oral tablet. This treatment is what I can do to help stop the spreading of it going further, although there is NO CURE.
It keeps me going, and I hold onto faith and hope, the problem is that it is very expensive, and I will need it for the rest of my life. As I am very busy still working, running a house, and keeping up with my family. Like anyone else I have good days and bad. I do try to remain optimistic.
I continue to keep a positive attitude and live my life to the fullest. Although the insurance company helps with some of the cost it does not cover all of it. The bills are pilling up, and I would very much appreciate your help and support in my fight! TEAM GERI…. EVERYDAY I FIGHT!
More than 50% of the proceeds from all Fight the Fight purchases made from July 1st, 2016 to July 15th, 2016 will be donated to Geri to help cover medical-related costs.
