Survivor Story: Eric Burns

Posted by Pete Visintin on

Written and Contributed by Eric Burns

Hello everyone!  Thanks for taking a minute to check out my story!  My name is Eric Burns.  I was born and raised in Collinsville, IL.

All of my life I dreamt of being able to help people and give back for everything I've been blessed with in my life.  I've always had to work for everything that I have in life, but I always felt extremely blessed to have been presented with the opportunities I have been in order to get to where I am today.

I have finally reached the point in my life where I am able to begin making my dreams of being able to give back and change other's lives come true.  I am 22 years old and just began my Doctors program at Logan University in Chesterfield, MO.

However, in a matter of seconds my entire world flipped upside down and will change my life forever.  I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

For those unfamiliar with N.H.L., it is a form of cancer that begins in the lymphocytes that is found in bone marrow, lymph tissue, and other lymphoid tissues, which is part of the immune system.

Unfortunately, we caught the cancer in stage 4, but despite the late staged cancer I have been given a good prognosis.  However, this is going to be a huge financial burden on myself and my family.

I was forced to drop my classes and put my dream on hold so that I can recover from this.  Along with dropping my classes, I am not working the part time job I had due to the side effects of chemotherapy.

As you can see, my availability to earn funds is very limited.  Any donations that I can receive will help myself and my family get through this time.

This has been a life changing experience for me and like I said earlier, it really flipped my world upside down.  I suppose if we never see life from a different view then we never realize the true beauty of life, though.

Thank you so much for this opportunity and God bless you all!

50% of the profit from all Fight the Fight purchases made from December 21st, 2014 through January 10th, 2015 will be donated to Eric to help cover his medical expenses.
