On Friday, my classmate Adam Tallman and myself were invited to the Gillespie Middle School assembly to "pass the torch" of the 4th place state trophy from our middle school baseball team 18 years ago to this year's team!
The whole experience was very nostalgic and surreal for me. It felt like I was just a student in that gym a few days ago. It felt like I blinked and 18 years went by! It felt like we just had our assembly to get our trophy in the mid 90's! What a crazy, cool feeling!
When I got the mic I told the students and everyone in attendance that when I speak in the Gillespie Schools I get the most nervous because it's the place that means the most to me!
What I didn't get to say was that when you make sacrifices to achieve something great like these players have, that greatness sticks with you forever. It always gives you confidence in the back of your mind that you climbed a mountain once which means you can do it again and again regardless of the size of the obstacle put in your path in life!
