Harper Layke Couch was born March 20, 2017 alongside her twin brother Cruz to Macee and Craig Couch. In late May 2017 Harper wasn't herself and seemed to have a bad case of infant reflux.
After the doctor examined her and took her blood he immediately sent them to Dell Children's Medical Center in Austin, Texas. There it was confirmed, on June 2017 (at just over 2 months old) she had Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia with the MLL gene.
Her prognosis was 10% survival rate upon admission. Her tiny body will ultimately go through 6 rounds of chemotherapy and medicines. She spends 6 weeks at the hospital at a time with one week at home, where she still goes to a clinic for trial treatment research.
Once her chemotherapy is over (approx January 2018) she will continue on an oral chemo for 1 and a half more years. Through all of this Harper has remained our warrior.
She is a true definition of strength and perseverance, truly "fighting the fight!" She smiles, coos, giggles and grows so amazingly, even though her body is fighting to live.
Thankfully, Dell CMC has allowed for Cruz to be by his twin sister's side and for her family to be close. Grandmas switch off staying with Cruz at a nearby hotel while his sister is in the hospital for her treatments.
We are ecstatic to say that Harper is kicking leukemia's butt and currently shows no cancer cells!
She will continue her treatment plan, and we only pray and hope that the cancer stays away as she grows!
More than 50% of the proceeds from all Fight the Fight purchases made between October 16th, 2017 and October 31st, 2017 will be donated to Harper's family to help cover her medical-related expenses!
