I used to think being kind was a weakness.
The nice guy always finishes last, right?
Now I’m realizing the kindness I have in my heart because of my parents and the way I was raised is a strength.
When I’m kind to people they are kind to me in return because we want others to treat us the way we wish to be treated.
Being kind has helped me immensely in business.
It’s taught me to be approachable, likable, and easy-going.
When the internet and social media weren’t around a few gatekeepers sat at the top and controlled who was going to be well-known and stand out, and who’s talents, skills, and abilities would be kicked to the curb.
I’m young, but I can see how, pre-internet, it was a dog-eat-dog world where you had to step on people to just ahead of them in line for the gate, which was access to an audience.
Us kind souls never had a chance.
But now we do!
There are no more editors, booking agents, or casting directors standing between us and consumers.
And that is exactly how it should be!
The market, the people should decide who rises to the top, not the corrupt, unethical gatekeepers from yesteryear we keep seeing in the news as the empires they built on that corruption fall one by one.
Kindness isn’t a weakness.
It’s the internal compass that guides us to do the right things to create a positive impact on the world and those around us!
